That Street Runs BOTH Ways, Not Just One

So I was reading an article today about a kid named "Patty" that wanted to play a certain sport in highschool. Patty ran home exitedly to tell mom that they had finally found a sport. When dad was informed, he was confused why Patty would want to play that sport, but he did not see anything wrong with it. When patty takes the field with the team, there are a lot of hecklers and people yelling obsentites. People say how patty does not deseave to be there and should not be allowed to be on the team. See, the thing is that Patty is a different sex then the rest of the team. Nonetheless none of all of Patty's teamates are in favor of Patty staying on the team. Patty earned a spot for steller play in the tryouts, so they figure Patty desearves to be there. So what sport am I referring to? A Female Patricia trying to play boy's football?

Try again. It is a male Patrick wanting to play girl's Field Hockey. There are many coaches of female field hockey who are strongly agianst this. They claim that boys will irrecoqivly change the game and prevent any girls from playing. I think this is a bunch of bullshit. I say that anyone should be allowed to play whatever sport they want that is offered by the school. If there is no boy's field hockey team due to funding, then there the boy should be able to play on the girls team. I think the same is true for the other side as well. If a girl wants to play football and there is no girl's team, she should have the oppertunity. I am not saying that the boy should be automatically placed on the team, I am saying he should be given the oppertunity to try out and earn his way on(just like the girl teammates) Just like the girl should be given t he oppertunity to earn her way on the team(just like the boy teamates).

The real issue here though is not boys on girls teams, but a much larger problem in America, and that is reverse discrimination. See, we are taught in schools that discrimination is wrong(and it is). However, we are also taught that it is ok to discriminate agianst a group as long as it helps another. The idea is that if we discriminate against an overrepresented group, then the underrepresented group will get an oppertunity. These people believe that discrimiantion is justified in this manner.

However, all discrimination is wrong. I do not understand how anyone can support discrimination. If a person loses an oppertunity due to discrimination of any kind, that is wrong. If a person loses a job becuase of discrimination that is wrong. Hiring a person based on what group they belong to and not soley based on their skills is wrong.

Face the facts: Discrimination of any kind is wrong. If a boy wants an oppertunity to play a girl's sport: LET HIM! If a girl wants an oppertunity to play a boy's sport: LET HER! The thing is though, we will never solve this issue until we finally admit that discrimination is wrong. We are a far way from doing that and that is a shame. We should LEARN from the mistakes of the past. Discrimination in our nation's past was an unfortunate part of our history. Let's learn from it and move forward. People say that we have come along way since those days. I am not sure how far we have really come. In essence discrimination is still here, except in this case it is pointing the other way.

Hypocracy

What can I say that has not been implied? Life can be quite stressful at times. I suppose that is something we must all learn to deal with as time unfolds though. A few random thoughts today.

Why is it that some Democrats are already talking about a possible fillibuster when Judge Alito has not even had the oppertunity to say very much to them? This is closeminded thinking plane and simple. Now some democrats may want to fillibuster not becuase they think Alito is a bad candidate, but just becuase he was nominated by Bush. Remember, Bush won the election and won the right to select who HE wanted into the supreme court.

As I sit back and think about Colleges(it is time for eager seniors to mail out their applications for college) I wonder how politics drives decisions. Those of you reading this know I did not go to Harvard or any of those Ivy league schools for undergrad. However, knowing what I know now, I am not sure i would WANT to go to Harvard. Boston, in general, has a repuatation for being arrogent rude people. However, the worst of the bunch are the pseudoIntellectuals at Harvard. See this bunch is not only arrogant and rude, but they think they are far better then you becuase THEY went to Harvard and YOU did not. They like to sit in their big Ivory Towers, scratching their hair and postualting how bad things are as they sip their 100 yr old brandy and relax in their $10,000 leather recliner. Obviously harvard will attract people becuase of it name, but the question is for how long? Already some people consider Princeton to be a superior school and others believe Stanford is far superior as well.

We now have 19 states banning Gay marraige. Are you surprised who number 19 is? Perhaps you will be. Texas joined the ranks on Tuesday. Here is something to wonder though, which is considered the most liberal state in the US? Some people would say Massachuestes. Others might say Oregon. The Green Party originated in Oregon and the Massaachuestes...anyway. Did you know that Oregon banned Gay marriage in the last presidential election? Why is that? Perhaps it is a sign that the US is not as fragmented as people want it to appear. How about the issue in Maine. This is a place where many "self ritous" massachuestes/san francisco citizens could learn something. If you don't like something, you have an election. You do not have some judge create like as they see fit. Judges INTERPRET not CREATE law. Yall should be up in arms with the judges in Boston and SF. You should be demanding their resignations. While you kiss their feet, you spit and shout at the choices Bush makes for the Supreme Court becuase you think they will "create law". Guess what, your actions show you to be partisan and hypocritcal. Oh, and it also shows your inability to understand simple logical fallacies. If you don't understand what I am saying, I am calling you D-U-M-B.
